How to Move Sh8 Word Lists to Sh10
Sh10 can read your Sh8 word list (*.spf) files. Shorthand saves your word lists to files ending in ".SPF"; each "tab" you have in the Shorthand main window is saved in a separate .spf file.
Your Sh8 .spf files are normally located in "C:\Program Files\Shorthand for Windows\Sh8" on your old computer.
On your OLD computer:
Use Windows Explorer to copy your .spf files to a USB flash drive. Your .spf files are normally located in "C:\Program Files\Shorthand for Windows\Sh8" unless you had installed Shorthand elsewhere. If you don't have a USB flash drive, you can simply email the .spf files to your yourself if both your old and new computers have access to email. We do NOT recommend you use a CD to transfer files as files restored from a CD will be marked READ-ONLY and cannot be modified.
On your NEW computer:
First, install Sh10 on your new computer. You can download Sh10 with a 30 day trial license from: https://www.pcshorthand.com/sh10dnload.html
Next, copy the .spf file(s) from your old computer to the C:\Sh10 folder on your new computer.
Finally, choose Open from Shorthand's File menu to load the .spf file. (Make sure you load in the .spf file that is in your C:\Sh10 folder; don’t load the .spf file directly from the USB drive since Shorthand will not be able to find the file when you remove the USB drive).
How to Purchase an Upgrade License
To use Shorthand 10 after the trial period, you will need to
purchase a license (see https://www.pcshorthand.com/sh10upgrade.html ).
Please make sure Shorthand works correctly on your computer
before purchasing a license as there are NO REFUNDS once a
license has been issued.
Using Shorthand with Internet Explorer
If your word processor is running inside the Internet Explorer web browser
You should disable IE's "protected mode":
Under IE's TOOLS menu, select INTERNET OPTIONS followed by the SECURITY tab,
then uncheck the "Enable Protected Mode" box.
Note that you need to restart IE after you make this change.

"Use smart cut and paste" box.
To disable the automatic spaces in Word 2007:
a. Click the Office button (the large round button on the
upper left corner)
b. Click Word Options (at the bottom of the menu).
c. On the left pane, select Advanced.
d. Under the "Cut, copy and paste" section, uncheck the
"Use smart cut and paste" box.
For older versions of Word:

If you use CAPS LOCK to capitalize expansions:
The Shorthand expansions will NOT be capitalized when the CAPS LOCK key is enabled if
the Shorthand Text Transfer method is set to "Simulate Clipboard Paste if Text Only":
This is because Shorthand uses the Windows Clipboard to transfer text and
the Windows Clipboard ignores the state of the CAPS LOCK (this is
a Windows "feature" and not a Shorthand bug).
Instead of using CAPS LOCK to capitalize words,
we suggest you use one of these techniques to capitalize
an expansion:
Simply type the abbreviation in all CAPS using the SHIFT key.
For example if you have the following abbreviation:
subj = subjective
typing "SUBJ"<SPACE> will expand to "SUBJECTIVE".
(note: use your SHIFT key to type "SUBJ"; using the CAPS LOCK
key will not work).
Another technique is to define separate abbreviations for
your long forms you need in all CAPS.
for example:
subj = subjective
subj1 = SUBJECTIVE
